Greyhounds have long been close companions of humans, and that relationship has been a co-evolution that has been shaped across the centuries. The evolution came in response to broad social and ecological forces that changed the world. The people and the greyhound adapted and in turn they also evolved in response to each other.
But all the time the greyhound was a working dog first and foremost, and we must be mindful that their life as a household pet is only a recent phenomenon.
