Out of the yards and into the kennels
As part of the preparation for racing, the young dogs (aged 12-14 months) are brought into the more formal structure of kennel life.

There is no rush to make this transition and because the change can be stressful on a 'young" dog, the exact timing of when they make this transition depends on their maturity.
During this phase they begin mirroring what they are going to do as race dogs
and are learning all about kennel life.
The young dogs get handled going into the empty out yards, going into the runs, on the walking machines and free galloping in the bigger paddocks in pairs.
